About Fujian University of Technology
Fujian University of Technology (FJUT) is a provincial university with a focus on practice and application. Its core offer lies in engineering while integrating other disciplines such as management, arts, economics, science and law. It is one of the first national pilots of "The Training Program for Excellent Engineers" advanced by the Ministry of Education for colleges and universities. In 2010, FJUT passed the undergraduate education assessment carried out by the Ministry of Education. In Dec. 2012, it passed the acceptance test and ready to our construction as a university with the accreditation to award master degree. In Jan. 2013, it has been listed as one of the universities under developing priorities.
Situated in the beautiful and vibrant city Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province in the southeast China, FJUT occupies an area of 136.88 hectares. The total value of fixed assets of FJUT is 1.083 billion yuan, and the total value of teaching and research equipment amounts to 215 million yuan. The university libraries have a collection of nearly 2 million paper volumes and 10137.01 GB electronic books. A completed network system covering the whole campus and information management platform has been established. Facilities and services are under continuous optimizing. We have been nominated as the 10th, 11th ‘civilized university’ by provincial government.
Up until March 2013, there are over 26000 full-time students and 1248 full-time teachers, among which there are 400 teachers with senior professional titles and 836 of them own a doctorate or a master’s degree, 10 of them enjoy special allowance from government, and 5 of them have the title of ‘Minjiang Scholar’. Currently, there are 14 schools and departments in FJUT such as School of Mechanical Electronic and Automobile Engineering, School of Material Science and so on. And there are 3 co-running institutions including Guomai College of Information, Software College and Haixia College of Engineering. There are 44 undergraduates programs, among which there are 28 engineering programs. FJUT has one provincial-level key discipline, material science and engineering and 5 provincial-level key disciplines of the first-class, which are traffic transportation, material science and engineering, civil engineering, mechanic engineering and management science and engineering. Currently we own 4 provincial-level key labs, 15 provincial and ministrial-level technological innovation platforms, 31 research institutions and 14 university-run enterprises.
FJUT keeps opening up and has boosted exchange and cooperation with foreign universities in U.S.A., U.K., Germany, Australia and Singapore. Sino-Germany International School of Engineering has been established. Our application for the “International Academic Course Transfer Program” and “Chinese Government Scholarship Scheme for Excellent Undergraduates” has been approved by China Scholarship Council. In addition, we have been qualified to recruit international students since 2012. Recently, FJUT have been cooperating with universities in Taiwan, such as Yunlin University of Science & Technology Feng Chia University, Mingdao University, Tainan University of Technology, Chaoyang University of Technology to further promotion our cooperation in academic exchange.
FJUT University now ventures into a new initiative under the motto: “Scientific Expansion, Priority on Students, Continuity of Reform and Innovation, and Service to the Development of the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone.” FJUT University’s goal embraces "Quality, Feature, Talent and Innovation” which opens opportunities. This sets the vision to build a first-class university with a practical orientation among its peer universities in China.
